A friend took us here for dinner for our first of five nights in Switzerland. The eggplant appetizer was last-meal quality, and it just got better and better from there. Amazing, very high quality food, beautiful scenery overlooking the harbor - it's hard to get much better than this for catching up with an old friend over an Italian dinner.

The last time I had a pizza at Cantinetta Meal I was really disappointed that the basic pizza I ordered with olives came with those cheap, tasteless, canned black olives. Though the crust and sauce remain very good, putting cheap flavorless canned olive on a relatively expensive pizza is inexcusable.Yes I know this is Switzerland, I have lived here since 2010, and it is still expensive even for CH.

Let me preface this by saying I took a trip to Napoli just to eat pizza. Of course, i ended up doing other stuff, but that was the main motivation :O)
That said, I am a big fan of pizza cooked in a wood-burning oven with lots of burnt dough bubbles on the crust, simple toppings, tasty pizza crust.
There were 3 pizzas ordered:
1. A simple Napolitana- just crust and the most delicious deepest tomato sauce ever. That is all it was, crust and tomato sauce, no cheese. but it was by far the best of the bunch. I remember that sauce like I just tasted it, so perfect and addictive!!!
2. Mine was over-the-top completely. I usually prefer a Margherita. I had a major month-long truffle craving to satisfy however and opted for the black truffle with mozzarella di bufala. While it was delicious, it was way too much, just an overload of flavors and richness. The richness of the truffles competing with that of the cheese...too heavy.
3. I forgot...my boyfriend I think ordered the Margherita DOP? He loved it too, but still not as much as the Napolitana.
The service was very very friendly. The waiter even let my BFs kid take a tour of the kitchen! hahaha So cute.
While I would go back, I would not go here regularly as I do find it very very expensive. Yes I know we are in Lutry :O(
